Beginner’s Shiatsu Classes for Family and Friends

Everybody can learn basic Shiatsu principles and touch. Giving Shiatsu to family and friends can be fun and really enjoyable!

Children can give Shiatsu to adults and vice versa; it’s something the whole family can learn to do for each other.

You can also learn how to work on some specific points to help with specific problems.

These classes can be arranged as a series of 2 or 3 hour blocks, with time in between each class to practice.

Health maintenance classes

Nicola teaches one- to-one classes combining: Meridian stretches, Relaxation Exercises, and Walking and Sitting Meditation. This is tailored to the needs of the individual and will be a combination of all the above.

Doing regular stretching, relaxation and meditation can be a good way to maintain your health on a regular basis.

These classes are normally an hour and a quarter and can be arranged a series of sessions.

Birth preparation classes

Whether you are planning to have a hospital or a home birth, most couples will be spending the 1st stage of labour at home. It can be useful for partners to have a framework to support each other in the first stage of labour. There are breathing exercises both mother and father to be can do. There are Shiatsu points that can be worked on to support process of labour . All of which can give a calming focus in labour.

These classes are normally an 1 1/4hour in length.

Baby Shiatsu massage classes

Giving your baby massage can be a great pleasure for both mother and baby, as well as being great to support the baby’s developing respiratory and digestive system.

Baby Shiatsu massage is done with oils, but is different to normal massage it that it focuses on stroking along the meridian system and working on specific points which may be of help in resolving any health issues. Baby’s can be massaged from birth and I advise the mother to learn to massage them before they can crawl; otherwise you have the challenge on massaging on the move!

Classes can be done one-to-one or as a group, which would share the overall cost. This would normally be 1 ½ to 2 hours long.

See Nicola’s article on Baby massage for more information on baby massage.
